SNAP-ED KENTUCKY 2018 Annual Report

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families

and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the

domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies,

nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those

eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program

and can access benefits. FNS also works with State partners and the retail community to

improve program administration and ensure program integrity.

Cooking through the Calendar

Robin Felix will teach a new class series that will be held each month throughout the 2020 year.  The first class in the series will be held on January 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., CST.  The series will feature a new recipe each month from the University of Kentucky’s 2020 Food and Nutrition Calendar.  Each recipe is geared toward nutrition, and healthier versions of well balanced meals. You will receive a copy of the 2020 Food and Nutrition Calendar and a free gift for every session you attend! 

2020 Class dates are: 

January 8, February 12, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9,

October 14, November 11, and December 9. 


International Cooking Class - March 2020

You can travel the around the world in this 8-part International Cooking Series that will be taught at the Grayson County Extension Office!  You will learn about the customs and cuisine of eight featured countries, and experience wonderful new tastes, recipes, food demonstrations and food sampling!  Robin Felix, Grayson County Nutrition Education Program Assistant, will introduce you to healthy, nutritious foods that you can make in your own home.  The weekly series will be held on the following schedule:  

  • March 3 - El Salvador
  • March 10 - Germany
  • March 17 - Venezuela
  • March 24 - Thailand
  • March 31 - Costa Rica

October - Apple Grilled Cheese

Make it a Meal: Apple Grilled Cheese, Green Salad topped with Chicken or Beans

November - Eggplant Pasta Bake 

Make it a Meal:  Eggplant Pasta Bake, Side of Turkey Meatballs, Handful of Grapes

December - Broccoli Cheddar Biscuits
