May 24: Intro to Food Preservation

Learn the basics of canning including updated preservation methods. Get a look at some new technology and tools that can make food preservation even easier!

May 31: Water Bath Canning
Learn how to preserve food using the water bath canning method! This will be a hands on learning class, come prepared to work!
Requirement to attend: Must be registered and have attended the May 24th class.

June 7: Pressure Canning
Learn how to preserve food using the pressure canning method! Class will be hands on, come prepared to work!
Requirement to attend: Must be registered and have attended the May 24th class.

Classes will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Grayson County Extension Service; 64 Quarry Road, Leitchfield, KY 42754

Laugh & Learn

MAY 2022

Who and When?
There will not be an in-person Laugh & Learn session in May 2022. Grab & Go Kits are available to all families with children ages 16 months - 5 years old.

Registration Ends: Friday, May 13th.
Packet pick-up: May16th through May 20th.

What types of wild game meat have you tasted? Try out some new dishes with our WILD GAME RECIPE CLUB! You'll receive 2-3 wild game recipe cards straight to your mailbox!

Once registered, you'll receive 2-3 recipe cards featuring wild game such as venison, fish, turtle, rabbit, and more every month through December 2022.


Big Blue Book Club

Join Family and Consumer Sciences Extension for our next Big Blue Book Club series featuring, "Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey through his Son's Addiction." Through moments of tenderness, anguish, and despair, we see hope for those living with addiction and the people who love them. "Beautiful Boy" sheds light on many aspects of addiction, including the complicated mix of factors that cause addiction as well as how families can respond to support their loved ones. Led by Dr. Alex Elswick, Extension Specialist for Substance Use Prevention and Recovery, this series will be held on Tuesdays July 12, 19, and 26 at 7:30 pm ET/6:30 pm CT. The first 200 registered participants will receive a free copy of the book.

Bring your own stitching or needlework projects to work on. Come and
go throughout the day. Connect with people who have similar interests. Learn new techniques.

Healthy Farm Families (May, June 2022)

Farm life is a busy and stressful one, so it's important to stay on top of your health. Farming means meals in the field or on the go most days. It means working in all kinds of weather, extreme heat and extreme cold. Farm stress and mental health is being talked about now more than ever. This educational class series will provide useful, tangible tools and resources to help you and your family stay on top of your health on the farm.

  • May 19th: Sun and Heat Safety
  • June 16th: Rural Mental Health and Farm Stress
