Boots & Spurs: What Should I Know?

What Do We Do?

  • Introduce members to the full scope of equine educational opportunities.
  • Provide youth with opportunities to expand their current skills through equinerelated learning, teaching, leadership, community service, mentoring and competition.
  • Help youth grow in the personal traits of integrity,teamwork, sportsmanship, patience and responsibility.

What Will I Need?

Animal ownership is not required. Members are encouraged to share their interests with others and participate in hands on learning experiences. The Boots and Spurs Club investigates equine health and nutrition, equine care, improving riding and showing skills, with many opportunities to learn from
professional in the equine industry.

Time Commitment?

The club meets twice a month on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Regularly attending meetings and attending riding meetings with weather permitting. Members can choose to participate in showing at horse camp, district shows, KY State Fair each with specific time requirements.

What Should Parents Parents?

Club meeting locations will vary. Some months the club will meet at the County Extension office. Riding meetings will be held at the Grayson County Saddle Club and others at various farms for hands on experience with equine.
